Seaplanes in Croatia: Promo video, Rijeka, Pula new destinations

Split – European Coastal Airlines releases a promotional video of the first modern scheduled seaplane service in Europe, as well as confirming imminent operations for two more routes.

A few months after the launch of the first scheduled seaplane service in modern European aviation history, European Coastal Airlines released its first promotional video on December 12, 2014, as well as confirming two new destinations in a phone call with Digital Journal.

The short video, which can be seen below, is a stunning introduction to the beauty of the Adriatic coast, whose islands are becoming more accessible with the seaplane service. Video footage over the islands of Brac, Hvar and Kornati, as well as the Dalmatian capital of Split, gives next summer’s tourists to Croatia a mouthwatering glimpse of how their travel experience will be enhanced by the expanding seaplane network.

The service, which started in late August with the inaugural flight from a sea port near Split Airport to Jelsa (a route covered in depth in an earlier Digital Journal report), has been popular with local residents and tourists alike, with a significant number of passengers taking the flights for the purpose of panoramic views of the spectacular Adriatic coast, rather than onward travel.

To the surprise of many in Croatia, the company announced that they would fly all year, in contrast to the numerous budget airlines which only operate in the main tourist season, and a recently launched Christmas sale of tickets from as low as 99 kuna (US$18) is proving popular for Christmas gifts.
