Work starts on Jelsa’s 17-point plan on Hvar, Croatia

With the tourist season over on Hvar, an ambitious 17-point plan from the Mayor of Jelsa begins a programme of regeneration.

After another successful season on the island of Hvar, thoughts turned to reconstruction and development on Croatia’s premier island on November 5, 2013, with the start of first phase works on the new waterfront in Jelsa, an event witnessed by Digital Journal.

Infrastructure improvements on the island have been impressive in recent years – increased water supply from the mainland, road upgrades and improved sewage services – and nowhere is the prospect of change and improvement more eagerly anticipated than in the central district of Jelsa, where new mayor Niksa Peronja recently published an action plan of change for the region.
